Suburban House

Design 3

Part of a design studio taken in the second year of the Bachelor of Architectural Studies programme was to model a typical suburban house and analyse it for positive and negative acoustic qualities. Keeping to that, the lower level was built from brick and masonry for thermal and acoustic insulation while lighter materials were implemented on the upper floor. With the main bedroom spaces in the downstairs area, the heat and sound insulation was extremely important while the living spaces on the upper floor did not have such heavy requirements.

This part of the design studio was to familiarise BIM programs such as ArchiCAD and Revit for use later on in the studio.
