Lightscale II
Tangible data installation
This project was an exploration into tangible data. Using tracked projections on a multi-layered mesh surface, we hoped to create an artistic spectacle akin to sci-fi holographic displays. Working with a team of 10 people, I was personally responsible for designing and testing the animations that would appear on the installation, optimizing them for the material. The installation itself, dubbed the Lightwhale is an 18m long object perched on a single pivot point to freely rotate in three directions.
Ultimately, the interactivity and ephermerality of this kind of experiment can be applied to real-world architectural projects to create buildings that respond to their users, without interfering with others. This installation project was undertaken during semester 1 of the first year of the Masters of Architecture (prof.) programme, concurrently with the previous "Gravity 2.0" project.
